Cape May County Jail Roster
The official Cape May County inmate records path starts with the county's Current Inmate Information page and then moves to the Sheriff IML roster at incarceration.cmcsheriff.net/IML. The county explains that the list covers inmates assigned to the custody of the Cape May County Correctional Center. It is updated once per day Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, so it should be treated as a daily custody list rather than a real-time booking feed.
Cape May County Sheriff Robert A. Nolan leads the Sheriff's Office, and the Correctional Center is operated through the Sheriff's Office Corrections Division. The roster is useful for current local custody, but it is not the right tool for every inmate search. A person sentenced to New Jersey state prison moves into NJDOC search systems. A person in federal custody needs a BOP search. Immigration custody is checked through ICE. For victims or others who need notice of a custody change, New Jersey VINE is a separate notification channel.
The county's roster has one local quirk that matters. The Current Inmate page says an inmate name appears once for each active charge filed. If the same person has several active charges, the same name can appear several times. That does not always mean several people share the same name.
Use Cape May County IML
The live IML v. 3.0 form gives two ways to search Cape May County jail inmate records. One route searches by first and last name. The other route searches by a selected identifier, either Booking Number or Permanent Number, plus the value typed into the form. The research sample found that a last-name-only search can return matches, but full names and identifiers reduce false matches.
The official IML form is shown in the Cape May County Sheriff inmate lookup tool.
The screenshot matters because profile pages are not simple static links. Search results are opened by clicking a row during the active session.
- Open the county Current Inmate Information page, read the update warning, and follow the Inmate List link to IML.
- Search by name first. Enter the last name and add the first name when the result set is broad.
- If a booking number or permanent number is known, switch to identifier search and choose the matching identifier type.
- Review the result rows for the inmate name, booking number, and permanent ID. Click the correct row to open the profile.
- Use the profile to read charges, bond, detainer, commitment, and hearing details. Call Jail Records before acting on bail or release information.
Cape May County Search Fields
The roster search fields are narrow, which helps keep the Cape May County inmate search focused on active jail records rather than broad criminal-history data. The Permanent ID is county-specific. It is assigned when a person is first incarcerated at the Cape May County Correctional Center and remains the same for later county incarcerations there. It is not an NJDOC SBI number, a BOP number, or an ICE A-number.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Options / Format Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Name | Text | Unspecified | Used in Search by Name; can help narrow common last names. |
| Last Name | Text | Unspecified | Used in Search by Name; a last-name-only test returned matches in research. |
| Select Identifier | Dropdown | Required for identifier search | Booking Number or Permanent Number. |
| Value | Text | Required for identifier search | Enter the booking number or permanent number selected above. |
| Search Button | Image/button link | Not applicable | Runs the name or identifier search. |
| Reset Button | Image/button link | Not applicable | Clears the fields in that search area. |
Search results observed in the research showed names in uppercase, numeric booking numbers, and numeric permanent IDs. Because the profile opens from a clicked row, a user should not expect to bookmark a long public profile URL and return to it later.
Cape May County Profile Fields
A Cape May County inmate profile is more detailed than the first result row. The research sample showed a name header, sex, inmate information, incarceration information, alias information, detainer information, bond information, charge information, and hearing information. The profile did not show a mugshot in the reviewed HTML section, so booking photos should not be promised as part of Cape May County inmate records. For the booking-photo limits, the dedicated Cape May County jail mugshots page explains the official research finding.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Full name header; search results use last, first, middle order. |
| Sex | Single-letter sex field was observed in the sampled profile. |
| Booking # | Numeric booking number tied to the current jail event. |
| Permanent ID # | County jail identifier reused for later Cape May County incarcerations. |
| Commitment Date | Date of the current jail commitment, not a full incarceration history. |
| Projected Release Date | Date shown when available; the profile warns it can change. |
| Alias Information | Last, first, and middle alias rows when present. |
| Detainer Information | Outside-agency hold information or a no-detainer message. |
| Bond Information | Case number, bond type, amount, status, percent, set-by details, date, and total. |
| Charge Information | Case number, offense date, code, description, grade, and degree. |
| Hearing Information | Hearing rows when available, or a no-hearing-information message. |
| Mugshot | Not observed in the sampled profile; do not assume public roster photos. |
Cape May County Jail Records
For urgent custody, bail, and release questions, the county points users to Jail Records rather than the web roster alone. The Cape May County Jail Records page says Jail Records maintains charges, bail, court transactions for current inmates, warrant checks at entry and before release, and bail processing. The county also warns that online bail data should not be relied on before posting money.

The public counter path should be confirmed by phone before arrival because general lobby hours were not located in the official research. Written records that are not shown online, such as older booking records or a specific jail document, should be routed through the county's Government Records and OPRA process. Sheriff's incident or accident reports use the Sheriff's records email route when they are Sheriff's reports, but other request types go through OPRA.
Cape May County Booking Records
The Cape May County booking path starts when a person is arrested by a local agency or held on a warrant and is committed to the Correctional Center if not released on a summons or other diversion. Jail Records checks warrants at entry, and the jail records the booking number, permanent ID, commitment date, committing authority, charges, detainers, and bail or release status. Medical screening, intake, and classification are part of the custody process, but the research did not locate a full public property or intake-question policy.
New Jersey's court path can move quickly after commitment. NJ Courts Criminal Justice Reform materials say first appearance is held promptly, often within 24 to 48 hours of jail commitment. That hearing may change release conditions or detention status. A roster charge is a custody snapshot from the committing authority. Formal court records after jail arrest can change as prosecutors screen, amend, downgrade, dismiss, indict, or resolve charges, so the court record may not match the first roster entry forever.
Cape May County Visitation Schedule
The county's Visiting page uses Securus for remote video visits and on-site video terminals for scheduled visits. Face-to-face on-site visiting is no longer conducted as the general rule. Remote visits run seven days, with a daily blackout hour. On-site visits must be reserved by phone the day before the visit, and the visitor must be on the inmate's approved visiting list.
| Visit Type | Schedule | Key Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Remote video | 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days | No visits from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; general population inmates may have up to three visits per day. |
| On-site video, last name A-I | Wednesday 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. | Reserve by phone the prior day; do not use the Securus online link for on-site visits. |
| On-site video, last name J-Z | Thursday 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.; Saturday 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. | Visits are 20 minutes, one on-site visit per visitor per day. |
| Contact visits | By approved request only | Immediate family, written inmate request, security check, and 180 consecutive days without discipline are required. |
Visitors should arrive 20 minutes early with government-issued photo ID that includes a picture, date of birth, and current address. The county rules require metal detector screening, limit the booth to three people, and allow the Visiting Control Officer to refuse or discontinue a visit.
Cape May County Access Chain
When a Cape May County inmate search fails, switch systems based on custody type instead of repeating the same roster search. The local jail roster covers current county jail custody. NJDOC covers sentenced state custody. BOP covers federal sentenced custody. ICE covers immigration custody. VINELink provides custody-status notices but is not a substitute for the official agency record.

| Current Cape May County jail custody | Cape May County Sheriff IML | Current roster search by name, booking number, or permanent number. |

| Custody notification | New Jersey VINELink | Notification of custody changes where available. |
No sheriff roster app found: The research did not locate an official Cape May County Sheriff mobile app for inmate lookup. ConnectNetwork and Securus apps are vendor tools for phone, payment, or visitation services, not county roster search tools.
